English language challenges

Hi bloggers! Today I’m going to talk about English language challenges.

One of the questions was “How did you like this subject at university?” and “What about the use of blogs?” well, this year I liked English class schedule, because the last year I did my English class in the afternoon, so I was very sleepy. In the case of blogs, I didn’t like too much use blogs, not because I don’t like blogs, just because after writing a while I’m getting bored.

The mainly aspect of my English that I need to improve is my vocabulary, because most of the time I know how to form sentences and develop conversations, but the vocabulary is an obstacle; I plan to see movies in English with subtitles in english too, so I could learn in a funny way.

Outside the English class I use hardly ever English, but I have to admit that I use it more and more to study some of my career topics; I know that in the future will be a great tool in my profesional life (I also like watching movies in English more than in Spanish).

The truth is that I really like English, I enjoy talk in English and listen to other people talk in English, but with the main subjects of my career I don’t have time to dedicate to study English, but in the future I would like to study more English, and also learn another languages, like Japanese or french.

Changes to my study program

Hi, today I’m going to talk about changes to my study program.

I am just in the second year of my career, so I don’t know most of the subjects and teachers, so I think that in the future I’ll have a more thorough and critical opinion formed, but for now I’ll talk about what I know at the present time.

Since 2012 my study program changed, today my career program is based on “competencies”, this mean that now the focus is on training you as a competitive professional.

I would like to change some program subjects, like remove physics or propose it as elective course (but honestly I don’t think people want to take it). Another subject that I think that I would change is biochemistry, I would change it for organic biochemistry, because biochemistry covers topics that are not related with the career.

I would like to add a subject about pure ecology, which focuses on plants, animals and fungi in the same proportion, because I think that is very important fully understand the environments and ecosystems.

One thing that I really hate is that the time is only administered for core subjects, and we don’t have time for the electives! Many people have to take elective subjects at lunch time or at protected time (which is a time destined to discussing student problems), That’s a big program problem.

Even after all this thing that I talked to you, I really comfortable in my career, and I hope you are too!

Astronomy!

Hi bloggers! Today I’m going to talk about astronomy, this is one of my favourites topics!

Since I have memory I like the universe and all related to it, I love the mysteries that we have in own galaxy and the processes by stars and planets are formed. I think that the mainly reason because I like the astronomy is because I really love see the stars in the sky, the starries nights makes me feel so relaxed, this is why I started to get interested in astronomy when I was a girl. 

Recently I saw “Cosmos” on Netflix, Cosmos is a National Geographic´s series which talks about physical laws related to cosmos’ phenomenons, and also show some important scientist’s life and how they discovered some of the most important answers about the universe.

One of my favourites mysteries about the astronomy are the black holes, the black holes creat a gravitational field so powerful that even the light is attracted!, there are also theories about time’s travel when you are very close to a black hole.

In the next semester I would like to take an elective course about astronomy, because I really want to know more about this topic, and fortunately my university has this course for anyone who wants to do it, no matter what career are you in.

Postgraduate studies

Hi bloggers! Today I’m going to talk about postgraduate studies that I would like to do.

I would like to do postgraduate studies, but I don’t know if I like to do it immediately when I finish my career. I would like to do postgraduate studies about Fire management, because in Chile  are so many forest fires, the most of these are for human causes, and these forest fires affect a lot  the environments, and is so important take care about it.

Another possible postgraduate study it could be about the species’ conservation, like the master in Wilderness and Nature Conservation in our university (Universidad de Chile), I will be glad studying this master because I love the environment, and is so important keep our species safe, because we have in Chile high levels of endemism, wich means that most of our species can be only found in our country, and nowhere else in the world.

Another option is the master in forest and enviroments’ science, in Universidad Austral de Chile, I would like to learn about forest dynamics.

There is also the possibility of not do postgraduate studies, in this case I would like to learn more with different experiences, visiting new forests and environments, in different countries and parts of the world.

My future job

Hi bloggers! Today I'm going to talk about my future job.

The truth is that I'm not sure about my future job, I just 

have some ideas. I would like to work outdoors because an 

office is not for me, but if I worked in an office I would like to

 have enough salary for travel around the world, because I

 interested in getting to know many different countries as 

possible, and learn about different cultures and people.

If I work in what I'm studying (Forest engineering) I would 

like to work outdoors, in the woods, I love being in the 

woods, I feel safe and relaxed in there. If I don't work outdoors 

I would like to work in the genetic area because I love genetic 

since I'm in the school, it was one of my favorites topics.

Another possible plan that I have is create a gamer bar with 

my family (mainly with my uncles), in fact we are doing research 

on how to get the money. We have some ideas about the name, 

but our favorite until now is "1up" with a mushroom logo like the

 Mario’s mushrooms; one of my uncles is a graphic designer, so he 

will do the logo. I'm very excited for this idea.

national parks

Hi friends! today I'm going to talk about national parks.

I think that the national parks helps too much to the conservation, for animals, plans and even mushroom. In Chile the conservation is very important because we are one of  the Hots Pots' biodiversity in the world, it means that we have a lot of diversity and endemism in our country, so we have to take care that our enviroment will be useful for our different species in the future, include humans.

My favourite national park in santiago is "Rio Clarillo", this park is on pirque, very close of my house (20 or 25 minutes), I moved to pirque when I was 17, three years ago, so I discovered this park in this moment. Rio Clarillo is amazing! its trekking rutes are exciting! you can see many different species, not only Chile center's species. This park have an "Arboretum" where you can see species in ex situ conservation, that means that this species are conservated out of its original place, so here is where you can see species from all Chile, also the species are classified for its filogenetic position.

I really hope that in the future Chileans people will be more culturized about our enviroment and its wealth.

Films

Hi bloggers!

One of my favourites activities is watching films! I love watch Netflix with my boyfriend while we eat some snacks or sushi, we really enjoy it. Also, always when we can (and when we got the money), we go to the cinema for watching new movies!

I love so many movies series and documentaries, my favourites are “Cosmos”,

“Cowspiracy”, “In to the wild”, “Games of Thrones”, “Breaking Bad”, “August Rush” and so many others!. One of these that it touch me more was “Cowspiracy”, this it talks about  the pollution and enviroment’s deteroration that it cause for cattle industry, this industry produce more or less  50% of the pollution in the world! I was so affect when I knew it.

Other film that I enjoyed so much was “Cosmos”, this serie talks about evolution, astronomy, history, scientist and so many others interesting thinks that motivated me to research scientist’s world!

Other think that I love, but I don’t know if its included in films’ category, are Japanese  movies and series, like the movies “Bakemono no Ko” best know as  “El niño y la bestia” and “Totoro”, or Animes like “Boku dake ga inai machi”, “HunterxHunter”, “Parasite”, “Another” and “Mirai nikki”.

The best concert!

I definitely love concerts! In my life I went to many concerts, so is difficult to me choose only one; one of my favourites is the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ concert, because they played a lot of my favourites songs, like “Give It Away”, “Can´t Stop”, “Under The Bridge” and “Californication”; to this concert I went with my mom and my dad, it was great enjoy with my parents the funky music!

Another concert that was great is the Iron Maiden’s concert, because it was one of my first concerts when I was 13 or 14 years old, I liked too much, in fact I went another time in the next year.

Two weeks ago I went to the Aerosmith’s concert, it was amazing! I was at the front! Steven Tyler (the vocalist) sang “Love in an elevator” just in front on me!, and the band played all the classics songs, my favourite song on the concert it was “Crazy” and “Dream on”.

And for the end of this month I have Guns N’ Roses’ concert! I’m so excited!  

A country you'd like to visit

I’d like to go to many countries, because one of my dreams is travel around the all world meeting new people, places and cultures.

One of my favourites is Holland, because I love the respect of the people for the freedom of thought that they have, and I also want to visit Ana Frank’s house, I think that’s an important cultural place to visit and is interesting too. The Holland’s capital is Amsterdam, where you can go around the canals on small boats, my dream is know the place on one of these boats.

Other think that I love about Holland are the landscapes, because so many of these are like go back to the past, like a time travel; the canals are also like to be on a dream.

I really hope to go to this country someday, and even stay there forever, because I want to spend my old age on the amazing places that this country has.

Hello! 

I'm Camila, I was born in Puente alto, Santiago, Chile in 1996, so I’m 20 years old; I did the level b1 the last year. I love nature, movies, animals, draws and music, I love write while listening to music, and also draws sometimes. My favourite music is mainly rock, but I also listening other styles. I also enjoy the theater, overcoat do it myself, I love act; and my favourite animal is the red fox since I’m nine years old.
